Nick Cornell, EA, CFP®

Nick grew up in an IRS family in the San Francisco Bay Area, and taxation was frequently discussed at the dinner table – he delighted to hear of the exploits of tax crooks and how they got caught. Eager to enter this world, and even before graduating from high school, Nick worked the front office at Henrickson & Lupori, a private practice that brought together three former agents with over 100 years of experience at the IRS. Nick was fortunate to find himself as an apprentice within an office that teemed with technical knowledge, wisdom brought by experience, and mentors who never neglected to share insights and know-how.

Nick graduated with honors from UC Santa Cruz in 2007, and completed his graduate work at San Francisco State University in 2009. While dividing his time between academic studies and tax work, he realized that the unpredictability of business in the real world had no correlation to the neat problem sets of the taxation textbook. Today, bringing more than 20 years of tax expertise, Nick guides individuals, investors, small business owners, retirees, and for-profit entities in tax planning and minimization.

Outside of tax season, Nick represents taxpayers under audit, works with attorneys as an expert tax consultant, and offers support services during litigation within a variety of tax disputes and controversies. His ability to analyze financial data—follow the paper trail—and shape a client’s tax reporting to meet the strictures of tax law keeps him busy beyond the demands of tax season.

Nick is a member of the National Association of Enrolled Agents, the California Society of Enrolled Agents, and the Financial Planning Association. Nick is an active member of his community through various non-profit organizations devoted to wilderness conservation and animal welfare. He enjoys spending time with his family, going on hikes with his dog, Sonny, and fly fishing on the rivers that flow through Central Oregon and through the valleys that surround Mount Shasta.
